Shipwreck

a poem by Stella Marie Viebrock, English

Once upon a time
High by the beach
Capsized in strong winds
Wood and grass swings
Sunrise, sunset, breeze in my hair
I lay down in the sand we just measured
Oh, to meet you is such a pleasure

You caught me like a shipwreck
Can’t explore our mess
‚Cause I am so wretched

In dark seas and crashing waves
In thunderous lights and tempting goodbyes
And ships are bound to sink
All that matters is

The missing lighthouse
It burnt down to ashes

And I take my pen
To write down how we met
To tell an incomparable story

Full of soliloquies you’ll never hear
At midnight I stab all the shadows who call me pathetic
What a despicable act
I look for shells to cover the wounds the crash caused me, but they are nowhere
to be found
When they found me, they talked about a summit of internal bleeding
Fuck, it killed me
So I toss and turn in vulnerability
I tend to make it all about me
And the thunderstorm sparks
They all hoped I finally died inside
When the sun rises, I finally shine bright
